The Republican National Convention, like it's Democrat counterpart, is a massive security operation.
As part of the effort to keep the convention secure, large, interlocking metal fences are being erected around the Xcel Center, just as they were at the Pepsi Center, in order to limit access to the facility.
A day before the convention kicked off, construction was underway.
As an aside: after I shot this video, a polite Secret Service agent asked me who I was, what organization I was with, told me to wait for a few minutes before asking me to remain on one side of the as-yet incomplete fence.
